Confidentiality
PCTI recognises the need to safeguard the confidentiality of patient data and undertakes that, on receipt of such data by it or its agents, with the express written permission of the User, the information will only be used for the purpose of maintenance, installation and the maintenance of data files. Access to the data will be
restricted to those individuals essential for accomplishing the purposes described above and no other person will see, review or otherwise use all, or part of, the data without the expressed written approval of the User. On completion of the purpose all copies, not matter how recorded, will be destroyed or returned to the User. Neither PCTI nor the User shall publicise, publish or otherwise disclose to any third party, any confidential information which it might receive from the other without prior written permission. 
 
About LogMeIn Rescue

LogMeIn Rescue is an over the internet based software support tool specifically designed for help desk support via a web browser. 

It differs from other remote access applications (including LogMeIn Free or Pro) because the remote machine does not allow permanent access to your computer.  It simply installs what it needs for the duration of the remote control session and then removes itself once the session has ended.

The connection works over an 256-bit SSL encrypted session so it is as secure as any banking institution.  As the remote user, you are in control of the session and can see everything happening whilst the session is active (there is no screen blanking).  You may stop the session at any time.  For further information regarding security click here.

LogMeIn Rescue is subscription service, registered to and paid for by PCTI, it will not cost you anything.  Any connections established by PCTI are audited by LogMeIn and PCTI.

LogMeIn and NHS Connecting for Health

Before we began to use LogMeIn Rescue for remote support, we asked CfH IG to clarify their position.  The following is their standard statement regarding LogMeIn was received:

"As NHS bodies are responsible for their own network security, CfH IG view this as an internal decision (by each organisation) as to whether you use this service.

CfH IG manage the national gateways to the Internet, and as this traffic will use TCP 443 (which is open through the gateways to the Internet) no intervention or approval is required from us for this traffic to pass"
